Membership numbers remain constant although turnout on club nights was erratic as members have often found that it suits them to train at times more convenient for them. However we have had some interesting routes for our “away” runs when we meet at locations away from the Marsh. One in particular had a totally unexpected ending and I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who was so supportive when I ended up in hospital. Also thanks to Phil Carpenter, Phil Haddrell and the others who organised the runs in my enforced absence.

Once again we have enjoyed two social runs jointly with our friends from Royal Manor AC Portland.

We have been represented in all the Dorset Road Race League events and other races but usually with only one or two competitors. Regular faces were Pete Clarke, John Kennedy, Michael Smith, Fiona Atkinson, Judith Boichot, Mandy Burley, Sandra Hood plus Mel & Samantha Holloway

Michael Smith, who continues to complete Marathons on a regular basis, has been awarded the club place for the London Marathon this year. Sandra Hood & Alison Walker will also be running in the capital. Michael has also qualified for the prestigious Boston Marathon with a “good for age” place. John Kennedy has also completed multiple marathons since the last AGM.

Last October, fewer members than usual competed in the Weymouth 10 (our club 10 Mile Championship) where Tom Austin was 1st WSPH man home with Fiona Atkinson 1st WSPH lady. Good to see new names on the trophies with competition for the awards.

John Kennedy has been awarded the Road Running cup for men while Melanie Holloway gains the ladies cup.

Congratulations must go to John Kennedy & Michelle (West) who were married in the summer.
