1.        Attendees

2.        Apologies

Mrs Wheeler also sent her apologies but wanted to thank committee members and coaches for all their work over the past year.

3.        Introduction

Tony agreed to chair the meeting in Caroline’s absence.

He welcomed members to the meeting and asked members to remember Austin Knock who sadly passed away earlier this year. Austin had been a valued member and coach of the club.

4.        Minutes from the Previous AGM

The minutes from the previous meeting were not available on the night, although they had been available on the WSPH website.

The minutes were accepted.

5.        Presentation of Treasurer’s Report

The Treasurer’s Report was presented by Alison Hunter.

The report was duly accepted.

6.        Presentation of Road Runner’s Report

The Road Runner’s Report was presented by Norman White.

The report was duly accepted.

7.        Presentation of Competition Reports

The Competition Reports were presented by Jan Westhenry.

The report was duly accepted.


8.        Election of Officers

The following officers were proposed and elected:

The officers were duly elected.

9.        Outgoing Officers

A huge vote of thanks was extended to Caroline Cheeseman who did a sterling job as Chair for the past few years. She will receive some flowers as a sign of gratitude from the club.

10.     Fees

10.1  UKA Membership

Individual UKA member fees remain at £10 per person. U13s wishing to compete need to ensure that they obtain UKA membership for insurance purposes.

10.2  Club Membership Fees

The following membership fees were proposed:

  • Road runner fees would remain at £10 per person.
  • It was suggested that track and field fees be raised to £15 per person.

This was proposed by Sarah Fraher and seconded by Sharon Tufnail.

The motion was carried.

11.     Other Proposed Rule Changes

There were no other proposed rule changes or motions.

12.     Any Other Business

12.1  Shoe Box

Chelle Coulson suggested that there could be a Shoe Box for donated shoes, which could be hired for a cost of £2 as long as the shoes were returned to the box when they were no longer needed (assuming they were still in good condition).

12.2  100 Club Lottery

Alison Hunter introduced the WSPH and AC 100 Club Lottery. This will cost £2 per month per ticket. 50% of the money raised will be given out in prizes with the remaining 50% going to the fundraising bank account. Further details, application forms and a standing order form can be obtained from the club.

12.3  Email Newsletter

Chelle Coulson proposed that a newsletter be sent to all parents via email which would contain information about upcoming competions, club events, etc.

13.     Closure

The WSPH and AC AGM was duly closed by Tony Faulkner and Jan Westhenry.

14.     Award Ceremony

The award ceremony followed.

This was introduced by Pete Clarke who described his experiences travelling throughout Europe participating in multi event competitions where there are 10 events on the first day and 10 on the second.

He also thanked the Committee, the coaches, the parents and the athletes and said that he was looking forward to a good season ahead.

Brian Copp was then introduced who also gave a short speech before presenting the TG Copp award to Michael Smith.

15.     Outside Training

Training will begin outside at the Marsh as of the week commencing 30th March 2014. Tony reminded children and parents that it is still fairly chilly so tracksuits should be worn and spikes should not be put on until the athlete is thoroughly warmed up.

16.     Volunteers

Tony asked for parents/volunteers to spend a few minutes at the start of training to help set things up so that training could start on time each week.

17.     Officials Course

Tracy thanked everyone who attended the recent Officials Course.
