Weymouth Running Club Road Runners

Weymouth Running Club : General
WSPH Weymouth road running : Road Running has been an integral part of Weymouth St Paul’s Harriers since the club was formed. Our members compete in a wide variety of races both at home and abroad.
Interested non-members may come and try us out for a couple of weeks before joining. While we welcome newcomers to the sport, regardless of ability or experience, we do require a basic core fitness in anyone wishing to start running with us.

Completion of 7 events enables runners to be eligible for age group awards (seperated into 5-year age bands). There is also a team competition.
DRRL also administers the County Championship programme. Tamsyn Rutter of WSPH is currently Dorset Ladies 10 Mile Champion.

- Race 5 of the 2025 Dorset Road Race League
- This Race is also race one off four of the U17 series
The May 5 is a great, local, 5 mile race around Canford Heath, Poole, Dorset. It offers something for everyone and with a start and finish at Ashdown Athletics Track, it’s the perfect place to cheer your runners in! Compete for fun, or test yourself against fellow club members or even other clubs.
Race start time: 9.00 am
NOTE: Entrants must be 15 or over on race day. No dogs, buggies or headphones will be permitted during the race.

The race is organised by a willing band of volunteers. This includes staff, parents and friends of the school.
We enjoy organising the race and welcome all runners, who have always been friendly ‘clients’ in the race. Any funds made in the 2025 race will go towards funding items for the children of the school. Course details, along with entry details are available on this website.
The proceeds from 2013 – 2015 have enabled us to partially refurbish the school library. We have purchased sofas, enhanced the range of non-fiction books on offer and the library has been re-painted to make it a more welcoming area. In 2016 the monies raised for the school went towards rejuvenating the school swimming pool.
The race brings the community of runners to the school, raises money and promotes sport.
The running family is full of some great people and we would like to extend a very warm welcome to as many of you as possible in 2025.

In 1980 three bored sailors stationed at the Royal Naval Air Station came up with the idea of a 10 mile race on Portland, the cost was 40 pence to enter!
Today the race has developed into a testing 10 mile route that will see you run a lap and a half around the top of the island, from one end of the island, Portland Heights Hotel (385 ft), to the other, Portland Bill (30 ft)
The route is undulating, on tarmac roads and pavements and goes through built up areas as well as following long stretches of coastal road.
